Dr. Rick Seaman
Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction

Rick was awarded the Wilfred R. Wees Doctoral Thesis Award by the Canadian College of Teachers.
The thesis was recognized for supporting such objectives of the Canadian College of Teachers as "...the
evaluation and dissemination of new ideas in education...and assist in improving the quality of education in Canada."
Rick's supervisor was Dr. Peter Hemingway and committee members were Drs. David Bale, Jim Tomkins
and Harley Weston. External examiner was Dr. Tom O'Shea, Simon Fraser
University.

Teaching Goal: Develop students' mathematical thinking abilities through cognitive, representation,
classification and retrieval strategies.
