Welcome to Elementary Mathematics Education
Elementary mathematics education classes are designed for the preparation of elementary school teachers for Kindergarten through Grade 9. EMTH 215 classes are mandatory courses, taken during the pre-internship semesters [semester 5 for Elementary (K-5) Program Students and semester 6 for Elementary (Grades 6-9) Program Students]). These classes expose the teacher candidates to new teaching strategies and mathematics content appropriate for elementary and middle years students. EMTH 325 is an elective class, optional for all senior Elementary (i. e., K-Grade 9) Program Students in semester 8 of their program--or in the Spring or Summer semesters following semester 6. This class addresses selected content areas in more depth and examines the resource-based nature of teaching mathematics in today's world.
