- Module #1: Word Processing in Education.
- Advanced features in MS Word including creating an index or table of contents, adding embedded comments (for assessment), reviewing student work and tracking document changes (ideal for thesis/dissertation review), charts, columns, mail merge, etc.
- Module #2: Advanced Online Searches.
- Intricacies of popular search engines, dissertation abstracts, online journals, educational resources relevant to pre-service teachers (e.g., Sask Learning resources)
- Module #3: Creating a Web Page to Enhance Instruction
- Module #4: Software and Spreadsheets for Grade Keeping.
- Create a spreadsheet template in Excel that will allow you to organize and calculate your grades. Teacher’s Marksheet software will be introduced as an easy alternative to grade keeping.
- Module #5: PowerPoint in the Classroom.
- Make simple presentations to enhance course content as well as to create more advanced, self-guided resources. Additionally, pre-assembled templates (e.g., Jeopardy template) will be used to showcase the various creative and educational uses of such software in the classroom.
- Module #6: Plagiarism and Academic Integrity.
- Understand the issues surrounding plagiarism in the digital age. This workshop will look at both the detection of plagiarism through Google and other tools, but focus upon prevention through assignment design and through a better awareness of the concept of academic integrity.
- Module #7: WebCT and Online Learning.
- This workshop will focus on the popular course management system WebCT. Participants will be guided through the various tools in WebCT including online discussion boards, email and chat. Examples of WebCT courses will be viewed and participants will be given all the information to get started in using WebCT as a course supplement.
