The Education Computer Centre was established in 1995 to support the instruction and research of members of the Faculty of Education, and to provide sufficient hardware and software to enable student teachers to learn to use computer related technologies in their teaching. This was done because faculty found that the resources provided by the University generally were insufficient to the growing needs and that they were governed by assumptions which did not support the special needs of faculty. As a result, faculty decided to establish this centre, supporting hardware, software, and personnel from the Education Operations and Capital budgets. That the faculty did so underlines the importance faculty place on the development of competent instructional and curricular use of technology in its members and its students.
